Why does everyone constantly search for relationships in life? The craving for a solid relationship is part of human nature. People are constantly longing to be liked by others and to be included in activities. During the Great Depression this was even clearer to see than it normally is. At this time in history, there was a severe lack of work, and no one could stay long in one spot, so relationships were never built. Throughout the novel, Of Mice and Men, many characters, including Crooks, George, and Curley's wife, search for acceptance among the rest of the workers on the farm. These characters, through their actions, make it clear that people always look for someone to share a common bond.
