The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton shows the complexities between two very different groups of people. With the differences of the rich people known as the Socs and the poor people known as the Greasers, many problems such as death occur between the two. This story shows main conflicts between the rich and poor, while at the same time showing themes, and characterization with the main characters.
Conflict brings the book The Outsiders to a new level by adding excitement and drama to the story. The very beginning of the book shows the first taste of conflict when Ponyboy Curtis is attacked by a group of Socs. The Socs threaten to this Ponyboy's throat, but are chased away by a group of Greaser's. Ponyboy is in the group called the Greaser's, because he is in the lower class.
