Causes of the Cold War
Summary: This essay contains the three relatively main causes of the Cold War including: nuclear arms race, trouble in Germany, and basic differences between communist rule, and capitalist rule.
Shortly after the conclusion of the Second World War, another problem seemed right around the corner. Just because the allied powers were victorious in their battle in Europe, did not mean that the spread and threat of communism was crushed. In fact, the threat lived on, in only a greater manner because of the ruin and despair that Europe was left to suffer in. Many defeated countries feared poverty and in their time of desperation turned towards communist power to secure a decent life for the future. Thus creates a communist Eastern Europe versus a capitalist United States with much support and help from other allied powers. Democracy and Communism came to compete for a dominant reign over the world, and as a result, the Cold War was born.
