Having a seizure can change a person's life. It can mean endless hospital visits, being probed with needles and taking endless amounts of medication. How do I know? I've lived through it. I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was five-years-old. I still participated in the same activities as other kindergarteners, but there was always something about me that I knew was different. My epilepsy was more difficult for my parents to handle than for myself, however, because they were constantly worried about me and they were the ones who had to witness my seizures and bring me to the hospital when I had them. I was always unconscious and unaware that I was even having a seizure. Now I am 17 and I have fully grown out of my childhood epilepsy.
