I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America. Ever since the Pledge was created, Americans took pride in memorizing, and reciting it. Reciting the pledge was a symbol of respect, pride, prosperity, trust, and past values that all mean so much today. That is the main reason why the pledge is forced into today's youth. Today's society is a much different place than it was when the Framers created the Constitution. Society had different values and beliefs back then. Today, it seems as if all qualities of honor, respect, and Americanism are slowly losing their value. The reciting of the Pledge reinforces to the youth, that America is one nation, one group, one assembly of people who are fighting for the same cause.
