Compares and Contrasts the Similarities of Football and War

Football and war have numerous similarities. McMuntry portrays comparisons between uniformity, violence, and obedience in his essay titled, "Kill `em!" "Crush `em!" "Eat `em raw!." Football and war may seem like opposite activities, however, in this essay they are not portrayed that way.
Uniformity is an important aspect of any "team" activity. All coaches see uniformity as a symbol of class and unity, this applies to football as well as war. It is misleading and distracting to watch a football game or any other team sport where the players do not have matching uniforms or color coordination. It is annoying to the audience and also makes the referee's jobs very difficult. This same idea applies to war. On the battlefield, life is chaotic, fast-moving, and frenzied.
