Genetic Babies
Summary: The following consists of an essay against genetic babies.
What if you can go to a gene therapists' office and pick out of a catalog of what genes you want in your child to make the "perfect" child or to produce a baby for some other reason like using the baby as a heart transplant for a child? This thought could happen in a few years by a new technology called genetic engineering. Using a chart created by the Human Genome Project, geneticists have now mapped out all the genes in all 46 chromosomes in every person to what set of genes produces a certain trait (Lewontin 133). The thought of producing a "perfect" child or dissecting a genetically engineered baby for transplants can not be allowed.
