How Do Variations on Light Intensity Affects the Rate of Photosynthesis in Elodea?
Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar, which cellular respiration converts into ATP, the ¡¥fuel¡¦ used by all living things. The conversion of unusable sunlight energy into usable chemical energy, is associated with the actions of the green pigment chlorophyll. The process of photosynthesis uses water and releases the oxygen and food.
An equation for the process is:
Sunlight
Carbon dioxide + water oxygen + energy
Chlorophyll
Hypothesis: I predict that the elodea has to be placed very close to the source of light because then a faster rate of photosynthesis will take place.
Algae are light-dependent plant meaning that the process of photosynthesis to occur, a continual supply of light is needed. Also, light is the primary factor limiting submerged aquatic plants. However the right...
