Summary: This a very personal essay on my own opinion towards men and women in military service and America in general.
Hero n 1: a man distinguished by exceptional courage and nobility and strength; "RAF pilots were the heroes of the Battle of Britain" 2: someone who fights for a cause 3: (classical mythology) a being of great strength and courage celebrated for bold exploits; often the offspring of a mortal and a god

The connotation upon the word hero has altered enormously throughout the passage of time. Before and during the Dark Ages heroes were knights-errant possessed of great strength, honor, and courage that sought out injustice and stomped it out in battle. During the Renaissance era, children and peasants worshiped their feudal lords, men that were again possessed of strength, that lead their men of arms into great battles, bringing victory and honor to their mini-kingdoms. In World Wars I and II, young boys dreamed of growing up to be soldiers, defending God and country.
