Wuthering Heights Vs Thrushcross Grange
Summary: This compares the two houses of the book "Wuthering Heights," by Emily Bronte.
Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte, is a gripping tale of a love that extends beyond the grave and revenge that consumes a lifetime. Catherine says, ."..he's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same" (pg 73) when describing her love for Heathcliff. After Catherine's death Heathcliff says, "I cannot live with out my life! I cannot live without my soul!" In this book the two main characters are the houses, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. The physical characteristics of each house are distinctly different. One house is typical of a gothic novel, while one is atypical. Although the houses look quite different, people in both houses take on the characteristics of their house. Though the houses are different, the love that Catherine and Heathcliff share binds the two houses and their occupants for generations.
