Travels in the Fourth Dimension

Time. Most people take it for granted ¡V but what is it? This is a question that has been debated by philosophers and scientists alike since the ancient Greeks, and our knowledge is still incomplete. My report is on the nature of time from a scientific point of view, rather than from a philosophical viewpoint or from the commonly perceived idea as time simply being something that is measured by clock or calendar.
My report focuses largely on the theory of relativity devised by Einstein, as this was our greatest advancement in our understanding of time.
Special Relativity
Albert Einstein rocked the scientific world and obtained immortality in 1905 from just two postulates, when he formulated his Special Theory of Relativity. These were:
- Uniform motion has no effect for observers at rest in the moving system; and
- Light travels at a constant velocity (c) in a vacuum, regardless...
