The Great Depression
The Great Depression of 1929 sent America into an economy depression. The world was affected, in particular Germany because of the scale of its loan from America. Many American bankers and businessmen began to demand their money back from German businesses. The result was economic collapse in Germany as businesses went bankrupt and unemployment soared. Germany still had to pay reparations to the Allies. The German people experienced unemployment and poverty again and hence were dissatisfied with the way the Weimar government handled the situation and therefore looked towards alternative parties who could represent their views and look after their needs.
