Need for Safety in America
Summary: This essay is about the essential need for safety in America today post Sept. 11th.
Are we safe yet? After the unexpected tragedy of September 11th, the United States and the entire world experienced a rude and prodigious awakening. It made Americans realize that their safety was in jeopardy. As this devastating tragedy unfolded, this great country united to strengthen and protect its citizens from future harm. In response to public concern, our government established the Office of Homeland Security to develop and coordinate a comprehensive plan to bolster our protection. In general, thoughts and events that occurred before, during, and after September 11th, have contributed to a new and improved nation.
Basically, the United States is a safe homeland. However, in the past sixty years, major events such as Pearl Harbor, Oklahoma City, and Columbine have questioned the presumed safety of Americans.
