I was born I El Salvador in a very small place in the countryside; the nearest city is about ten miles away. To get to school, I walked for about two hours round trip. Back them there was no road, we walked along the creek side, which flooded every time that it rained so we had to be very careful not to get our clothes muddy.

We are a family with ten children; I am the 6th child and the second one planning to attend college. I grew up and lived with my grandmother because my parents were here in the United States. I came to the United States in 1998, with out knowing a single word of English. The good thing was that I finally got to see my parents after fourteen years.
