The Ku Klux Klan, or KKK, has been alive for over a century. There were a total of three Klans born and the third one is still active today. Although they had different goals each time they were formed, they were racists in every one of them. Discriminating against one race or another.

Started in 1866 to control the newly freed African Americans, this secret organization was the most terrifying one during the reconstruction era. Using threat and violence, they kept the newly freed men from exercising their rights to vote. Their "midnight rides" against African Americans were also very well known. Wearing their white robes and hoods, the members of the Klan would burn their (African Americans) homes, churches and schools.
