The basis of our democratic society is one person, one vote. Every citizen has an equal say in what happens with our government. Voting isn't only our right, it is our responsibility. I am excited about getting to have a voice in what happens in upcoming elections.

I plan to register to vote this year when I turn 18. If I am away at college on November 2nd, I will obtain an absentee ballot from the county clerk's office so I will be able to exercise my right to vote.

I want to vote for the first time this year because each vote does matter. Our votes influence who will be our leaders and how they will make the important decisions facing our national, state, and local governments.
