Summary: Essay presents a biography of Hephaestus, a mythological god.
I am Hephaestus or known to the Romans as Vulcan. I am the god of fire and forger of armor. My parents are Zeus and Hera even though Zeus had no part in my birth. My mother expected me to be more beautiful and outshine all of Zeus' children. She was wrong. When I was born, I was ugly and deformed. Hera did not want anyone to see me so she threw me off of Olympus. I fell through the sky for one day and one night before hitting the ground. The fall had crushed my legs and that's why I am lame. A water nymph named Thetis saved me after I fell to the ground. I lived with her for 9 years. That was when I noticed a special ability that I had.
