Summary: Essay provides a brief discussion about the Eastern front.
Russian army's officer corps were demoralised by the poor progress of the fighting. Even though the Germans were completely outnumbered, they were more cunning and dangerous than the Russians and the Russian royal family's intervention did not improve anything. The repeated catastrophes suffered by the Russian field armies, took away any patriotism that existed three years ago, slowly allowing the entire governing system to fall apart. By March 1917, began ignoring their orders, the situation was made worse as the growing communist rebels exaggerated reports of minor events such as the revolt of a Russian Guard depot formation at Petrograd, the mutiny however was not carried out by the fully trained Imperial guardsmen, but by the trainees and depot troops.
