Why Did a Campaign for Women's Suffrage Develop in the Years after 1870?

The Campaigning for women's suffrage began due to a conflict of rights. Some women took it upon themselves to change the future rights of women, and give them a say of the way in which the country was ran. Women wanted to vote, as they thought equality with men should be a basic right. Many women and many men also thought that women had proved themselves equals, by working in factories and doing jobs, which, before hand, would have been for men only to do.
Men could be lunatics, drunkards and convicts, and still be able to vote. Women on the other hand could be mayors, nurses, teachers and doctors and still not be able to vote, as pointed out in source A. Many women found this highly unacceptable and demanded the rules be changed. Women were just as intelligent as men were, as they had been educated...
