Oskar Schindler was born on April 28, 1908 in Zwittau, Austria-Hungary, which is now known as Moravia, Czech Republic. He was born a catholic. His closest neighbors as a kid were a Jewish Rabbi family, and his two sons became Oskar's closest friends. During his younger years he was known as an extreme womanizer. He married Emilie Schindler when he was nineteen, although he never was without a mistress or two. His family was always wealthy, but during the depression in the 1930's, the family firm lost almost everything.
While unemployed, Oskar joined the Nazi party, which seemed the smart thing to do. They just took over Czechoslovakia in 1939, and things seemed to be going up for them. Oskar followed on the heels of the SS when Germany invaded Poland. He quickly got on good terms with the Gestapo leaders. He then left his wife to move to Krakow. Bribes...
