Summary: Essay examines the differences between monoculture and polyculture.
In the world, there are many types of natural cultures. The two main types are monoculture and polyculture. Monoculture is where a biome or habitat has only one dominant species, hence "mono." The dominant species has almost no competition from other species. On the other hand, a polyculture environment contains many dominant species, hence the prefix, "poly," which means many. A polyculture has a larger biodiversity than the monoculture.
Monoculture environments have only one type of species. If a pest or disease was to infect this species, then this whole environment would collapse. Also, monoculture territories tend to need more nutritional needs than polyculture environments.
