Analysis of "Anthem of Doomed Youth"
Summary: Essay consists of an analysis of "Anthem of Doomed Youth."
At one's first look, one is able to tell that this poem is a war sonnet as it consists of 14 lines and has a negative tone throughout. The voice in this poem is the author himself as he expresses his anger towards war, and the motive is to mourn for the unfortunate youths who lost their lives in war. The author is angry and bitter about innocent young men dying in war.
Before analysing the poem, let me summarize it in my own words first. There is individual suffering in the battlefield, only the unpleasant and terrified environment where humanity is not given any worth. No proper burial is given for the dead and there is only presence of a pathetic situation created by war.
