Ramones: An American Band Is a great book .It tells the story of one of my favorite bands The Ramones. They went through three drummers and two bass players in their Twenty plus years as a group. The first four guys in the band were Jeffrey Hyman/Joey, John Cummings/Johnny, Tom Erdelyi/Tommy, and Douglas Colvin/Dee Dee. They were all born and raised in Forest hills, a middle class suburb of Queens, New York.

Johnny and Dee Dee met working a construction job on Broadway and decided to start a band. They found a drummer in Joey and a manager in Tommy. Soon after their first show Joey became vocals and Tommy picked up the drums. They became The Ramones they all adopted the last name Ramone.
