Macbeth's Decent in to Darkness

Summary: An exploration of the character Macbeth and the circumstances that lead to his eventual demise.
Throughout the tragedy of Macbeth we watch in dismay as Macbeth, a once well liked and respected man changes so drastically before our very eyes. As the play unfolds a darker Macbeth is revealed. Our noble Macbeth becomes a ruthless murderer, completely void of any compassion. This downward spiral into darkness and evil is fueled by Lady Macbeth and the witches, but couldn't have progressed if not for his own burning ambitions to become king.

From the very beginning of the play it is quite clear that lady Macbeth is the dominant individual in this marriage. When she is reading the letter Macbeth sent her concerning the witches' prophecies, you can almost see the plan for Duncan's murder materializing inside her mind. When she informs Macbeth of her plans he is horrified. However, Lady Macbeth is very persuasive, and uses several different tactics to make Macbeth see things...
