Gay Rights

"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness" is guaranteed to all, regardless of gender, class or sexual orientation, and this bill perfectly represents that ideal. We must keep in mind that as senators of the United States our religious beliefs should not and must not play a role in our decision on this bill; we must instead weigh the legality of the issue not the morality. I would therefore like to address the following points (1) gay marriage and (2) gays in the workforce.
Marriage equality would build on America's tradition of moving civil rights forward. Excluding same sex couples to marry has a long history in this country, but that doesn't mean that it is in keeping with American values.
