Being the youngest, Marie was raised believing that her destiny was to become queen of France. Marie grew up in a highly moral environment. Her parents, unlike most couples of the period, had married for love and enjoyed family life. Nevertheless, Maria Theresa placed her daughter under the care of a governess who spoiled and cared for Marie's every wimp. Marie had little education; she spend her time playing and amusing herself with music. Marie Antonia grew up surrounded by her mother's court's formality but also her family's private causality.
