Armistice

Summary: Esay discusses the events after the armistice was signed for World War I.
The war is finally over, eleven am on November 11, 1918. After four years of fighting, it has come to an end. The Armistice was signed at Compiegne in France after President Wilson agreed to accept changes concerning damages. The territorial invasions achieved by the Central Powers had to be discarded. The German Army gave up 30 000 machine guns, 2 000 aircrafts, 5000 engines, 5 000 lorries and every single submarine.

At first Germany asked for an armistice to talk about a peace treaty. The Allies wanted to make sure that Germany would never go to war again so Germany was forced to pay massive damages to the Allies. Germany has lost a lot of land and all the colonies it possessed.

The war has been estimated to cost a great number of lives. About 65 million men fought in the war and half of this number were either killed or injured. The families of these soldiers are living with a lot of misery. The towns and villages have been entirely swiped away. Everything is very bloody and destructed. There is nothing left of Germany. People hope that they never have to face the horror of war again.

Germany has lost too much and it will slowly gain its strength back. All the left Germans have to work together to deal with the great losses. It will take time, but everything will work out. The war is over and hopefully there will be no more fighting. Rest in peace to the dead soldiers that fought in the war.
