Within the novel of Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes, the underlying theme of transformations is ever present. Within the story we see how the main character, Johnny Tremain, is changed by events occurring in his life and related to the beginning of the Revolutionary War. These events help him discover a sense of a maturity that he seemed to have lacked. Within the span of two years Johnny learn how to adapt better to the obstacles life provides him with and how to try to make it in his life on his own leaving his past behind and looking to the future.
