Malcolm Little was born in Omaha, Nebraska and he promptly realized his oppressed state in the white man's world. His father, Reverend Earl Little, was a Baptist minister and a dedicated organizer of Marcus Garvey's U.N.I.A (Universal Negro Improvement Agency). Malcolm was the seventh child and always felt he was somewhat favored in his father's eyes, which he attributed to his light skin. Malcolm would often accompany his father to clandestine U.N.I.A meetings and from an early age became conscious of the segregation between whites and blacks.
