Violence on Television
Summary: Essay discusses how the violence on television effects children. It also discusses why these effects are caused and what parents can do to protect their children.
Several experiments and studies have shown that watching violent television-shows can
cause negative effects on children. A lot of shows view violent scenes; even "just funny"
cartoons might include violence. The fact that viewers sometimes are not even conscious
of how much violence they were confronted with, is a dangerous situation especially for
children. Or are you always aware of violence when you watch television? I choose this
topic, because I was annoyed about it for a long time and I think it is important that
parents of young children know the effects of TV-violence and why these effects are
caused, so they can do to protect their children.
The American Psychologycal Assosiation made a study with about hundred preschool children which were observed both before and after watching television; some watched cartoons that had a lot of aggressive and violent acts in them and others watched shows...
