Culture of the 1920's

Summary: Essay discusses the culture of the 1920's in the U.S.
Through the 1920's culture went through large changes. Racial anxiety still existed, but with entertainment changing, America's youth, women, and racial situations changed. White Americans were being introduced to the music of black musicians, woman started to enjoy independence and develop social lives, sports were becoming widely popular, and families started to attend movies on a daily basis. Entertainment directly affects what kind of culture and what kind of people, are society is molded into.

In the twenties some woman took a turn for social diversity and social independence. Flappers were woman that rebelled against fashion and traditional "lady like" manner. Flappers wore their hair short, and their dresses long and baggy, revealing their legs and arms. Often found in clubs, drinking and smoking publicly flappers were seen as rebels and misdemeanors.
