Summary: Essay analyzes William Blake's poem "A Poison Tree."
In his poem A Poison Tree, William Blake describes the power of anger under certain circumstances. Blake says that when anger is expressed, its power diminishes. However, when is not expressed, it grows and gradually consumes the person, eventually motivating them to kill. By providing an example of the deadliness of anger when it goes unchecked, Blake helps us realize that anger behaves in different ways. Anger is anger but its power depends on how it's expressed.
Blake suggests that when anger is expressed, anger loses it power. Blake accomplished this by stating in the second line of the poem "I told my wrath, my wrath did end."
