Imagine being out in the middle of the woods, no one around no one to hear you. Imagine that you have a bullet wound the size of a nickel just to the right of your belly button. Imagine being drenched in your own blood but not being able to stop it from continuing. Imagine being starved and numb but not strong enough to move just waiting until you finally die. Now imagine lying there for 3 even 4 days until you finally fall unconscious. Does this sound like justice? If George didn't find Lennie I think this would have been the outcome of the troubled character. The way he did die had no pain he didn't even know what happened and George made sure that he died with a happy memory.
