Summary: Why is the interpretation and evaluation of media," History vs. Hollywood", necessary in the analysis of intended and unpredicted and unwanted effects regarding the Northeast nations?
Throughout history, Native Americans have been reinvented again and again. They have been portrayed in movies as uncivilized, simple, superstitious, bloodthirsty savages. These misconceptions are often the basis of feelings regarding the Native Americans; feelings that often have unpredicted and unwanted effects regarding Native Americans, including those of the Northeast nations.

The Indians of the Northeast nations, that include the Iroquois, Mohawk, Huron, Abenaki, Seneca, and Algonquians, are often a big part in history and historical films (The Last of the Mohicans). Although The Last of the Mohicans was a very historically correct film, not all other follow the same course. Many other films seem to stereotype and destroy the image of the American Indian.

Hollywood provides an endless parade in which we have "good Indians and bad Indians." In the thousands of individual films, we have few, if any, "real Indians" who have individuality or humanity; who...
