Summary: Discusses the Election of 1896, mainly focusing on the Democrats and the Republicans, and the controversy surrounding bimetallism.
The Election of 1896 was a race of epic proportions. While in a heated competition for the Presidential seat, both major presidential parties broke several political boundaries. This resulted in new breakthroughs in campaigning methods and strategies, and after all was said and done, the Republicans had come out on top, with William McKinley holding the position of the President of the United States.

With the Democrats in a slump from the economic depression that resulted from the Panic of 1893, they needed a revival in the upcoming Election of 1896. In their convention in Chicago to select a candidate, they were taken by surprise when Cleveland's followers, called the "Gold Democrats" were in the minority. Another surprise came when a young politician, 36-year-old Nebraskan Congressman William Jennings Bryan took the podium. He spoke on his promotion of bimetallism, and presented a heartfelt speech, now known as the "Cross of Gold...
