Referring to your article "Should We Ban Strikes in Key Public Services"" by Ira Chalphin in "The Observer" from 28 August I would like to mention following:

Mrs. Chalphin writes in her article that strikes in general and especially in key public services might have a bad influence on the reputation of a country. I think that this could be right, but I'm not convinced that it would really happen this way. On the one hand it could be possible that strikes create a negative public image but on the other hand strikes only show that there is something wrong in the government's ability to govern. Politicians often tend to "sweep problems under the table" in order to protect the status of their country but from my point of view it is more important to do something against bad working conditions or unfair policies than to keep...
