Indoctrination, is the essence of democracy, for it to truly function, the people must be brought up with the belief that they should be in control of their own destinies because this form of thinking must be shared equally by everyone, in order to function; to accept this principle unquestionably thus becomes the very crux of the democratic process. Noam Chomsky argues that the general populace is controlled by "elite media."
Noam Chomsky sometimes calls the "elite media" the "agenda setting media" because they're the one with all the rich resources and the rest follow. A perfect example would be The New York Times.
