Summary: A comparing and contrasting essay about the tea ceremonies of Japan and China.

In the Japanese culture, there is a proverb that states: "If man has no tea in him, he is incapable of understanding truth and beauty." There is another proverb from the Chinese culture that states: "Drinking a daily cup of tea will surely starve the apothecary ("Tea Quotes")." The Chinese and the Japanese culture contain a certain respect for tea; in fact, they even have ceremonies that prepare tea in a fashion that brings attention to this drink and drowns off the rest of the world. Although these two countries are near each other geographically, each culture's tea ceremony contains many similarities, and also many differences.
