Single party rulers want "to control every aspect of people's lives, and, by doing so, shape them to his purposes as a potter shapes clay"(Marrin 65). The main prerogative of a single party ruler is to make sure that his views and opinions become that of the general public. This would then make the single party rulers transition to absolute power easier to accomplish.
