Culture Shock (travel Writing in the Style of Bill Bryson)
Summary: This travel writing is bout a first trip to Ireland in the literay style of travel writer Bill Bryson, from the book notes from a small Island. It mimics the same humour and uses similar expressions and phrases like Bryson.
My first sight of Ireland Co. Mayo was on a winter's day in December 1994 when I arrived at knock International airport from Stanstead. For twenty minutes or so, the terminal area was packed in the tiny airport which could be described as a shed. . I was standing wondering next to my dad when I first noticed the sign `Knock International airport' and I laugh, as Knock is hardly `international', (there are no flights from America as such.) I noticed the Shrine shop while I waited to meet my granddad; I should have known there'd been a shrine shop. Knock is famous for their holy water and so the shop sold Mary statues and holy water.
