The Growth of Democracy in 20 Short Years
Summary: The effect of Jackson's presidency and how the government policy changed from 1820-1840.
America's Democracy experienced one of its greatest growths between 1820 and 1840. Under Andrew Jackson's terms America evolved and built on the foundation set up by the founding fathers. There were many changes in the electoral process and the nation's economic policy. There was also the Second Great Awakening which revitalized religion throughout the nation, which lead to changing morals and laws being made to accommodate them. Jackson's Economic Policy left a lasting impression on America as well. Yet, the greatest growth in democracy was caused by the Western Movement. With these changes--Economic, Social, Political, and Demographic--Democracy took a drastic leap forward.
