Pride causes people to do things that are otherwise considered stupid or arrogant. Back in the Greek times pride was considered to be a sin. It caused many their death, either through stupid acts or through punishment by the gods. There are many myths that show the downfall that is pride such as the stories of Arachne, Bellerophon.

In the myth of Arachne, it starts off that she is the best mortal weaver and therefore her basis of pride is shown. In the myth she says, " Let Athene appear and contest her skill with mine," one would not normally say such a thing, for that would be offensive to the gods.
