As the United States expanded throughout history it became increasingly influential in other countries. This influence gave America the ability to prosper, likewise the influence of other countries on America also ignited prosperity. More and more the United States became dependent apon other countries and in turn the affairs of other countries would affect the United States. Therefore the U.S. concern for it's nations well-being directly affected the actions taken under it's foreign policy. Overall the goal of any nations foreign policy is to keep that nation intact. For example the foreign policy instituted during the United States invasion of Grenada was to stop communism from undermining the U.S. democracy and to ensure the safety of it's American citizens residing in Grenada.
