American Involvement
Summary: Discusses American involvement in World War II. Examines popular sentiment about the war during that time. Considers the political, social and allied bonds which forced the United States to take a side in the war.
The United States was still fairly young but had already become a national powerhouse into a world where nations started an enormous war. As tensions mounted in Europe and exploded into bloody warfare the world looked to the US to choose sides. The American nation was built up of immigrants and now countries where these immigrants came from were now in war. There were a variety of arguments for and against American participation in World War 1 because the citizens were a mixed breed of different countries.
Once the first World War began the populist of America felt that the United States should stay neutral to all countries. But because of political, social and allied bonds the U.S. had no choice except to choose a side in the war.
