Summary: This essay compares the two World Wars, paying specific attention to how the way that WWI ended led to the start of WWII.
On September 3, 1939, World War II (WWII) began. This was only 21 years after World War I (WWI) had ended. Apparently, the resentment from the result of WWI and the emotions that had started it had not died down in the score of years between the two events. The resentment from the end of WWI was in large part due to the way in which it had ended. Without an obvious defeat or even the fatal blow of a lopsided battle, many citizens of the nations of the Central Powers - which was comprised of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire - did not view themselves as the losers of WWI. This was also due to the conditional surrender of the Central Powers. When the WWI Allies - Russia, Rumania, Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, Italy, France, Belgium, Portugal, and the United States - won WWI and agreed to the conditional...
