In the ancient Sumerian epic of Gilgamesh, Herbert Mason, the author, represents the life of Gilgamesh who develops a sincere, true friendship with Enkidu who has the opposite qualities of him. Due to Gilgamesh's nature and behavior, he initiates an action, together with his friend that put Enkidu's life in jeopardy. Moreover, Gilgamesh undergoes devastating tragedy and life-altering experience that leads to his denial of the truth, the truth that he cannot accept, the truth that a life that is lost could not be brought back, and the truth that there is no element of solution for immortality. Learning this, his discovery of reality gives him futile fate initially, but as he sees that there's no way to bring back Enkidu, he comes with full acceptance of the truth.
