A Separate Peace: A Review
Summary: Discusses the novel, "A Separate Peace," by Knowles. Evaluates the main characters and describes who is the best and worst soldier. Concludes that Gene Forrester would make the best soldier because he has enmity and competitiveness inside him.
Soldiers all look the same when they are marching to the front line with guns on their shoulders and helmets on their heads. However, the faces under their helmets show the "differences." By "differences," it is not only that they look different, but also the expression of their eyes- the spirit they show through their eyes. Bravery or fear, enmity or amity, all show through the eyes for eyes are windows of the heart which will always betray your feelings. The pair of windows distinguish between the best and the worst soldiers. The best soldiers will always have fire glares in their eyes, for they have the anger from enmity which makes them eager to kill.
