Why Second Hand Smoke Should Be Banned
Should smoking cigarettes be banned in public places? Some people may favor having the right to smoke in public places while others feel as if they have to deal with second hand smoke. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. Each lit cigarette releases around 4,000 chemicals, including 200 known poisons in the air (Source). While non-smokers are inhaling these chemicals they are at risk of a higher percentage of getting bronchitis and lung cancer. These health risks can even be fatal to someone who is exposed to second hand smoke. Not only does smoking cause health risks, it's a danger to children and non-smokers. If smoking cigarettes in public places is banned then a majority of people will not have the exposure of poisons that cigarettes give off. Smoking in public places should be banned because second-hand smoke endangers non-smokers health and the environment.
