The Historical Background of the War between Israel and Palestine
Summary: Describes chronologically the numerous events and actions between the two states, Israel and Palestine, which has lead them to their situation today. Researches terms such as Zionism, Sharif Hussein, and Intifada.
In 1881-1882, the Tsar of Russia (Alexander II) was killed. Preceding this incident, many planned attacks or pogroms against the inhabiting Jews in Russia were conducted. This set in motion the concept of Zionism, a plan to create a place for Jewish people within Palestine. The first immigration under this plan commenced at this time. In 1897, the First Zionist Congress began a program to transfer Jewish people into Palestine.
The second Zionist immigration was between 1904 and 1914, due to more pogroms in Russia. In the duration of this immigration, delegates to parliament in Palestine cautioned that a Jewish conquest could occur. In 1916, Sharif Hussein announced an Arab Revolt, and was supported by Britain, who guaranteed corroboration in the building of an Arab kingdom.
A year later, the British government passed the Balfour Declaration, which reinforced Zionism. After WWI, the Allies worked up the Middle East, and Britain took Palestine...
