Biology Coursework Investigating the Effects of Sucrose on Potato Chips
This experiment will investigate the effects of sucrose on potato chips. The driving force of this effect will be osmosis, which is the movement of water from a higher concentration to a lower concentration.
This same practical was also done last year, in the 4th Form, but on a much smaller scale. The hypothesis for both experiments was almost the same and it was used to help formulate the hypothesis below.
Aim
To investigate the effect of Sucrose on osmosis in potato cells.
Variables
As we are only going to identify the new and old potatoes, it is essential that we keep the other possible variables which might affect the result, constant during the course of the experiment.
